Greetings from South Africa. ...Frederik my brother

Greetings from South Africa. JFK here.
I remember when working in the Ukraine from 1998 to 2003 that people would actually greet each other on Easter-Sunday in the follwing way:

"Christ has arisen!"

to which the reply is:

"He has truly arisen!"

Amazing how the resurrection changes the way we speak, isn't it? Oh yes, and the Russian word word for the pagan rooted word "Sunday" is "Voskresenye", which literally means "Resurrection". In other words, after a worship service Russian Protestants might say: "I'll see you next Resurrection!" The coming alive of Christ from the tomb, thus changed there weeks for ever.

Important to remember that if a person believes the Bible to diverge from history, that no so-called "faith" can make up for the unbelief of what the Bible presents as actual historical facts. In other words, if after having read God's Word, the Bible, a person says that he doesn't believe that Jesus Christ really arose from the dead, it is called unbelief. I guess that's why we are not called "provers" of the resurrection in the first place, but "believers". And we know that it is only the Holy Spirit through the Word who can work faith in hearts.

Praise God that He has granted us faith.

Love you

JFKFrederikhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05277214125670416526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3725661126161848078.post-88162663176568792952010-09-30T07:15:13.684-07:002010-09-30T07:15:13.684-07:00Hi Reka,

Taking your thoughts one step further: Is there credible evidence that the resurrection of Jesus was a historical fact? Or is belief in the resurrection as a historcal event an utterly irrational faith position? Can we somehow allow faith and historical investigation to dialogue? I hope and think it is possible...Frederik Mulderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15196783247144695855noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3725661126161848078.post-28179426402016984772010-09-29T13:50:36.366-07:002010-09-29T13:50:36.366-07:00I would not really like to believe in myths. John McDowell is right, if resurrection weren't a historical fact, it would be the most vicious hoax ever created since the Christian life (and I can add, life itself)would be meaningless without it.
rekaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3725661126161848078.post-13931517077969456892010-09-28T12:50:42.061-07:002010-09-28T12:50:42.061-07:00I just read an interesting quote from Josh McDowel...I just read an interesting quote from Josh McDowell about the importance of the resurrection:

“I have come to the conclusion that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is one of the most wicked, vicious, heartless hoaxes ever foisted upon the minds of men, OR it is the most fantastic fact of history"

http://www.y-jesus.com/body_count1.phpFrederik Mulderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15196783247144695855noreply@blogger.com
